We are seeking a motivated and analytical Market Intelligence Intern to help gather, analyze, and manage market intelligence data. This role is ideal for a university student or recent graduate who is passionate about technology, robotics, and construction and eager to make an impact by supporting strategic decision-making in a fast-growing and leading-edge startup.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring market researcher or business analyst to get hands-on experience in a high-growth industry while supporting strategic decisions made by the executive team.  While this is an intern position, ongoing employment is possible.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Project Administrator & Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Conduct research on market trends, potential customers, emerging technologies, and competitors in the construction robotics space.

  • Develop and maintain a database to track and organize market intelligence data.

  • Identify and assess new market opportunities, customer segments, and industry developments.

  • Monitor advancements in robotic hardware, software, and AI in construction and related sectors.

  • Regularly update reports and dashboards with new insights and information.

  • Assist with creating customer profiles and competitor analysis reports.

  • Support internal teams by providing data-driven insights to guide product development and business strategies.

  • Collaborate with different departments to understand intelligence needs and deliver actionable information.

About You

The Basics

  • Are able to legally work in Canada.

  • Bonus points if you have knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:

    • Construction Fabrication

    • Robotic Fabrication

    • Architecture/Engineering (related to parametric design and/or robotic fabrication)

    • Robot Brand Familiarity (ABB is our current main robot provider)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Our ideal candidate brings to the organization:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

    • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information.

    • Interest in emerging technologies, especially robotics, automation, and AI

    • Basic understanding of the construction industry or willingness to learn about it.

    • Proficiency in data management tools (spreadsheets, databases) and familiarity with market research methodologies including generative AI tools

    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team setting.

    • Experience with competitor analysis, market segmentation, or trend analysis is a plus but not required.

    • Familiarity with CRM tools or data visualization platforms (e.g., AirTable, Notion) would be an asset.

Key Tasks

  • Research, compile and maintain a list of potential competitors, customer profiles, suppliers, market stakeholders and industry events.

  • Set up a centralized system to store and regularly update market intelligence data.

  • Conduct SWOT analysis on key competitors and provide insights on potential market shifts.

  • Gather and evaluate new technologies that could impact the construction and robotics sectors.

  • Attend webinars or industry events to capture key market insights and trends.

  • Complete other tasks as directed by the management team.

  • This position is part of the Technology Alberta TechBoost program for a 200 hour work term that must be completed by March, 2025

  • Successful applicants must:

    • currently be enrolled in or recently graduated from (within the past 12 months) a designated Alberta post-secondary institution

    • be age 18 or over, living in and eligible to work in Alberta (international students are eligible)
